KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER PROGRAM OF POTENTIAL PLANT SPECIES DIVERSITY AND ITS ROLE IN ENVIRONMENTAL BALANCE

The Knowledge Transfer Program of Potential Plant Species Diversity and Its Role in Environmental Balance organized by the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Sunway City Iskandar Puteri aims to provide comprehensive benefits to the community by increasing knowledge about the cultivation of ornamental plants, environmental sustainability as well as the importance of taxonomy in scientific aspects.
The program was officiated by Prof. Associate Dr. Shafinaz binti Shahir, Dean of the Faculty of Science together with YM Ungku Ahmad bin Ungku Mohd Zakaria, Director of the MBIP Community Development Department and Mr. Khairul Anwar bin Mohd Fuze, representative of Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, also featured knowledge sharing from Dr. Farah Alia binti Nordin and Dr. Dahlia binti Shahbuddin, Lecturer at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) who discussed topics related to ornamental plants and their potential.
A total of nearly 170 participants have participated in this program, including UTM Bachelor of Biological Sciences students, SK Taman Mutiara Rini students, as well as residents of the Shafar Orphanage.
This program is carried out through close cooperation between the government, the private sector, and the local community, in line with the implementation of Local Agenda 21 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) led by MBIP through the MBIP Community Development Department.
Hopefully this effort can foster awareness and collective action towards continued environmental sustainability.
