Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) has received two prestigious awards in the 2024 Low Carbon City Awards Ceremony organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Natural Sustainability which was completed by YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Minister of Natural Resources and Natural Sustainability.
- 5 Diamond Award: Sunway City Iskandar Puteri Low Carbon Zone
- Provisional Certification: MBIP Medini Office Building
This award is the highest recognition from the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) which evaluates the achievements of low carbon cities based on the five main elements of sustainability which are Energy, Water, Waste, Mobility and Green Areas.
Meanwhile, the Sunway City Iskandar Puteri Low Carbon Zone (SCIP), which successfully won the 5 Diamond Award, is the result of a strategic collaboration between MBIP and SCIP in developing a low carbon city. This success not only reflects a high commitment to environmental sustainability, but also strengthens MBIP's collaborative approach in realizing the sustainable development agenda. This effort is in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnership for Goals, which emphasizes the importance of cooperation in achieving a greener and more sustainable future.
This recognition is a motivation trigger for MBIP to continue empowering low-carbon city initiatives, thus supporting Malaysia's aspirations towards the net zero carbon target of 2050.
