BASIC PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID (PFA) TALK FOR VOLUNTEERS
The program organized by the Community Development Department, Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) in collaboration with the Johor Bahru District Health Office (PKDJB) is specifically designed for SVIP volunteers, who are often involved in humanitarian aid missions as well as mentally and emotionally challenging community programs.
Psychological First Aid (PFA) is an important approach in providing early support to individuals experiencing emotional stress due to a crisis or disaster. Exposure to the basics of PFA is expected to improve the knowledge and skills of volunteers in providing effective initial support to the community.
The lecture was delivered by Encik Muhammad Syakirin bin Md Salleh, Psychological Officer from Mahmoodiah Health Clinic, Johor Bahru, and was attended by 150 Southern Volunteers Iskandar Puteri (SVIP) volunteers.
Through this talk, participants will be better prepared to deal with emotional stress not only among those they help, but also in taking care of the well-being of themselves and their teammates while carrying out aid missions.
