MBIP's Public Health Department has carried out post-flood dengue fever prevention activities including breeding grounds inspection (PTP) and larvaciding, which is a poison spray to kill larvae around flood-affected areas.
In addition, environmental sanitation activities are also carried out to prevent the presence of cockroaches, flies and rats (LILATI) which can pose a risk of disease. Among the areas involved are Kampung Pulai, Kampung Tuah Jaya, Kampung Batu 8 1/2 and Jalan Shahbandar, Taman Ungku Tun Aminah.
Members of the public affected by floods are advised to always take measures to prevent dengue fever as follows:
1. Immediately dispose of containers that have the potential to hold water
2. Place the larva-killing material into the water reservoir
3. Use mosquito repellent
4. Wear long-sleeved shirts and bright colored trousers
Immediately seek treatment if you experience fever, body aches and others
