MBIP conducted a hawker license review operation at Jalan Kemuliaan Night Market, Taman Universiti led by Mr. Mohamad Fahim Azman bin Ab Jalal, Assistant Director of Licensing and also attended by Mr. Fakhrul Zafran bin Absl Kamarul Azman, Taman Universiti Zone 5 Council Member. The focus of this operation is on public complaints related to illegal hawkers and foreign hawkers which create implications for licensed hawkers as well as the public.
2 foreign hawkers were subject to confiscation action for the offense of misusing licenses and businesses run by illegal parties. The Licensing and Enforcement Department will intensify operations of this kind to ensure that hawkers comply with license conditions and protect the rights of local hawkers. In relation to that, all hawkers are reminded that foreigners are not allowed to be hawkers or hawker assistants and if found to be in violation of licensing conditions may be subject to confiscation, compounding or license cancellation. Hawker's License is only given to Malaysian citizens.
