Information on Measles Infection in Malaysia
Please be informed that measles infection surveillance in Malaysia has found an increase in infection rates since the beginning of 2023. This follows low measles immunization coverage, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic. In this regard, the WHO has suggested that additional measles immunization be given to curb the spread of measles in the community. The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) is planning to implement the MRSIA Campaign nationwide simultaneously, starting August 4, 2025, including in the state of Johor. The immunization activity will be carried out at health facilities and outreach programs in care institutions or educational institutions, including public facilities, involving approximately 250,000 children in the state of Johor, including citizens and non-citizens.
This campaign needs to be completed within 8 to 10 weeks, with a target of 95% coverage within 3 weeks. Parents or guardians of children aged 6 to 59 months can get measles and rubella vaccinations for their children at nearby Health Clinics on a walk-in basis or by making an appointment via phone or the MySejahtera application.
Protect your child. Prevent measles & rubella.
