Community Development Department was established on 1.1.2009 and was previously known as Community Development Division under the Management Services. From September 2014, the Johor Bahru Tengah Municipal Council (MPJBT) has upgraded this section to Community Development Department.
The main function of this department's establishment is to plan, coordinate programs related to society/LA21 and the community, execute urban poverty alleviation programs, coordinate ‘Southern Volunteers’ (SV), as well as run sports development programs. In addition, the function of the department is also to manage and facilitate the use of public address equipment for community programs, to plan and design the management of library services for reference and research purposes as well as to implement related programs.
