Mayor's Message
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,
Greetings and Salam Maju Johor.
All praise be to Allah SWT for granting us the opportunity to step into a new chapter in our lives and public service. A new year is not merely a change in calendar numbers, but a moment for reflection, evaluation, and renewed determination to become better than yesterday.
LEADERSHIP AS A TRUST
Allow me to share a verse from Surah Hud, Verse 61, in which Allah SWT says:
“He has created you from the earth and appointed you as its stewards.”
This verse places the responsibility of prospering and sustaining the earth upon humanity. The leadership values exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) must serve as our guiding principles in planning and implementation, ensuring that while we pursue worldly development, spiritual values continue to be upheld in order to build a balanced and blessed society.
Every individual, regardless of position, bears responsibility for the trust and duties entrusted to them. Whether within the family, the community, or the workplace, each person must act with integrity and consider the impact of their actions on others.
Leadership is not merely about issuing directives, but about ensuring that decisions and actions taken reflect the public interest and the well-being of society. Collective leadership must be embraced so that the execution of responsibilities involves all levels of the organisation.
IN UPHOLDING THE ROYAL DECREE,
Allow me to share the decree of His Royal Highness Tunku Mahkota Ismail, the Regent of Johor:
“He calls upon all civil servants to focus their efforts on accountability and the effective delivery of services to the people of Johor.”
Among the key pillars I wish to emphasise this year are accountability and integrity. Integrity is not merely a slogan or a written policy; it is a reflection of character, principles, and values demonstrated through daily actions.
As public servants and members of the Local Authority, we hold the trust of the people. Every decision made, every service delivered, and every aspect of our conduct as perceived by the public reflects the image and credibility of Iskandar Puteri City Council.
Therefore, a culture of integrity must continue to be strengthened, institutionalised, and upheld as the foundation across all departments and levels of the organisation.
A new year demands a renewed spirit — a spirit to work more efficiently, innovatively, and with greater focus on outcomes. We must be prepared to embrace change, adapt to current challenges, leverage technology, and continuously enhance our skills to ensure that the services we provide remain relevant and of high quality.
I envision the MBIP workforce as a progressive, open-minded team that constantly seeks opportunities for improvement. Let us view every challenge as an opportunity, and every piece of feedback as motivation to move forward.
Let us move into this year with firm resolve to make Iskandar Puteri City Council an excellent organisation, in line with the MBIP Vision of becoming a Smart, Sustainable and Prosperous City.
Thank you.
Wabillahitaufik walhidayah,
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
